Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Tan Dung, praising "strong growth" of Indian economy in the last few years, also sought India's help in developing satellite, remote sensing technology and civil nuclear technology, and ocean research.
"We welcome Indian companies to invest in Vietnam in areas such as infrastructure building, sea port, steel production," Dung told PTI in an interview.
Describing India as an "important economic partner" of Vietnam, the Prime Minister said bilateral trade between the two countries may reach USD 4 billion in the current year and USD 7 billion in 2015 and hoped that ASEAN-India free trade agreement on services and investments would be inked soon.
"We have great admiration for India's strong growth in the past years. The country is well-known for its modern education and advanced science - technology, standing among top-ten economies with the GDP of USD 1,800 billion in 2012 with an increasingly important role and position in the region and the world," he said.
Pitching for further push in bilateral ties, he said Vietnam would to like to get help from India in diverse fields. "We wish to learn from India's valuable development experiences, including those in science and technology, especially information technology, biotechnology, nano technology, nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, space satellite and oil and gas exploration."
Talking about negotiations on ASEAN-India free trade agreement on services and investments, he said both the sides have doubled their efforts to finalise the pact which will also boost trade between India and Vietnam which is a key member of the grouping.
"Given the strong political will of both ASEAN and India, I believe that the remaining technical issues will soon be settled for the early signing of these two important agreements," the Vietnamese Prime Minister said.
