Four persons were arrested today for their alleged involvement in a group clash in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, police said.

The residents of Ganie Mohalla and Sofi Mohalla in Arampora village of Sumbal, 35 km from here, pelted stones on one another following a scuffle over electricity transformer, a police spokesman said.

He said the inhabitants of the two localities had a long pending dispute over the transformer and the situation took an ugly turn yesterday when the residents exchanged blows and later pelted stones on each other.

The residents of both the localities claim their rights over the government installed transformer aimed at electrifying the area.

One of villagers also fired some aerial shots with his rifle during the scuffle, prompting police to rush to the area and restore law and order, the spokesman said.

He said four persons have been arrested so far.
