: Rastriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), also known as Vizag Steel Plant (VSP), has achieved a 29 per cent growth at Rs 14,687 crore during this year as against Rs 11,395 crore last year.
The steel mills also recorded a notable performance during the period with value-added steel alone registering a growth of 25 per cent, said chairman and managing director of RINL P K Rath said Tuesday while addressing senior officials of the public sector undertaking on the occasion of new year.
He said achievements were made in high-end value- added steel production and there was an increase in capacity utilisation in the new mills.
Rath said there was an improvement in power generation and handling of raw material and exhorted the employees to achieve further growth by improving volumes and production from the blast furnaces and steel melt shops and finishing mills.
He said the steel plant saw a growth of 18 per cent in hot metal, 16 per cent in liquid steel and 15 per cent in saleable steel production during April-December 2018.
