Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today visited the famous shrine of Mata Khir Bhawani at Tulmulla in Ganderbal district and prayed for peace, harmony, progress and prosperity in the state.
"The Governor visited Khir Bhawani temple and participated in the three-day Maha Chandi Yagya, being organised by Pundit Prem Nath Shastri Sanskratik Shodh Sansthan," an official spokesman said.
The 'yagya (special prayers)' started this morning and the Governor prayed for the state's peace, harmony, progress and prosperity, he said.

The locals presented a memorandum containing their demands, which included development of a tourist village and upgrading of a school in the area, to Vohra, the spokesman said.
He said the Governor discussed these demands with state revenue minister Ajaz Ahmad Khan, who was present on the occasion, and asked Ganderbal Deputy Commissioner to resolve the difficulties being faced by the locals.
