Volkswagen unveils sports hatchback Polo GTI

German auto major Volkswagen today unveiled its sports hatchback Polo GTI, which will target a niche segment of enthusiasts.

The Polo GTI is powered by a 1.8 litre petrol engine mated with a 7-speed gear box. The engine has the capability of delivering EU 6 emissions norms.

"The Polo GTI is specifically designed for the true blue enthusiasts. We are confident that the world renowned, highly acclaimed features of the carline will strongly appeal to Polo GT loyalists and driving enthusiasts in India as well," Volkswagen Passenger Cars India Director Michael Mayer said.

The Polo GTI comes fitted with safety features such as ABS, ESP and Hill-hold functions and airbags as standard features.
 

Volkswagen currently sells the Polo, Vento, Jetta and Beetle in India.
