Water was today released from the Lower Bhavani Reservoir for irrigation of second turn ayacut lands with Environment Minister Thoppu N D Venkatachalam throwing open the shutters of the dam.
This water release will benefit 1.03 lakh acres of land in Erode, Tirupur and Karur districts to raise dry crops like gingelly or groundnut, officials said.
