Wild elephant tramples farmer to death

A 45-year-old farmer was

trampled to death by a wild elephant near here early Thursday, police said.

Kittusamy was riding a motorcycle to make some purchases when the elephant blocked his way, the police said.

On seeing the elephant, he abandoned his two-wheeler and tried to run. But, the animal chased him and trampled him to death, they said.

Some villagers noticed the farmer dead and informed the police who sent the body for a postmortem.
