Woman falls from scooter, run over by water-tanker

A woman died after she fell from a scooter and was run over by a water-tanker in outer Delhi's Kanjhawla, the police said today.

The victim, Usha Chauhan, was a teacher at a government school in Shahbad Dairy, they said.

The accident occurred when she was returning with her husband on a scooter yesterday. They fell after the rider lost control of the two-wheeler. The vehicle's wheel had got stuck in a pit, the police said.

Before the woman could get up, she was run over by a water-tanker, they said.

She was taken to a hospital where she was declared "brought dead", the police said.
 

The driver escaped from the spot. The woman's husband was discharged after first-aid, they added.
