A 60-year-old woman was killed near a petrol pump in Jagdishpur on the Varanasi-Lucknow national highway when a truck overturned on her after hitting a car standing beside the road, police said.
SHO Jagdishpur Shiv Muni Yadav said that the truck in Jagdishpur market hit the car standing beside the road and later overturned, crushing to death Shafikurnisha.
The body has been sent for post-mortem, he said.
Three persons including Congress leader Shahin Akhtar received injuries while they were purchasing fruits after leaving their car beside the road.
The injured persons were admitted to CHC Jagdishpur and freed after primary treatment, the SHO said.
The truck has been seized by the police but the driver is absconding, police added.
