Woman killed in tiger attack

A 43-year-old woman was killed in a tiger attack in Lohara forests near here today, a forest official said.

Poonam Shende, a resident of Lohara village, was attacked by the big cat in the afternoon when she, along with other women, was collecting firewood.

The area falls under West Chanda Division of Forest Development Corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM).

FDCM, (North Chandrpaur) General Manager GRK Rao said his staff found pug marks of a tiger near the spot of the attack.

Rao also assured of appropriate compensation to kin of the deceased.
