A woman was allegedly roughed up by a group of lawyers inside a court in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, prompting police to register a case.

A case was registered against three lawyers including a woman after the victim, Khalida Bano, lodged a written complaint alleging she was ruthlessly beaten up by them inside the Anantnag District Court yesterday, police said today.

They said Bano, who was profusely bleeding, was admitted in the hospital for treatment.

"The victim had named three lawyers and a hunt is on to arrest them," a police official said.

However, the Anantnag Bar Association denied the charges of the woman and claimed that she created rucks inside the court complex and attacked one of the woman lawyers defending her husband.

"Our lawyers did not beat anyone but it was the woman who beat our lady lawyer and her colleagues intervened to save her," a Bar spokesman said, adding, a complaint has been filed before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in this regard.

Khalida Bano had filed a complaint against her husband, Mudasir Ahmad Khandey, before the court of CJM Mohammad Amin Mir. When the proceedings were over, her husband's lawyers allegedly had a heated argument with Bano, sources said.
