Woman vet suspected to have been raped before being killed

The woman veterinary doctor, whose charred body was found under a culvert on the outskirts of the city, is suspected to have been raped before being killed, even as four people are being questioned with regard to the incident, a senior police official said here on Friday.

"We strongly believe that she was raped before being killed. However, it will be confirmed only through forensic examination.

Four people are being questioned with regard to the incident, the official,who did not wish to be named,told PTI.

State Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao expressed confidence that police would bring the culprits to book at the earliest.

"Outraged and deeply anguished by the murder of Dr...I am confident that @TelanganaDGP & the police will catch the animals who committed this heinous crime & deliver justice at the earliest. Ill personally monitor the case too. Anyone in distress, please dial 100," he tweeted.

The spot is around 25 km from the toll plaza where she was last seen near here on Thursday, a day after she went missing.

The burnt body of the victim, who worked as an assistant veterinarian at a state-run hospital, was noticed by some passers-by, who alerted police.

Members of the woman veterinary doctor's family, who had filed a missing complaint after she did not return home by 10.20 PM on Wednesday, identified the body, police had said.

Amid various reports on the incident, police appealed to the media on Friday not to reveal namesor circulate false information until official information is released.

"Do not reveal names and circulate false information until and unless the official information is released in the murder case, they said.
