'Women backbone of society': TN Guv

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today described women as the backbone of the society.

"Women are the backbone of the society. They are the pillar of strength, a guiding and dynamic force for the well-being of a family and a country," he said in his International Women's Day Greetings.

Rosaiah said women were embodiment of virtues and stand for purity, patience, and were the pride of a home and a nation.

"Let us pledge to uphold their dignity, ensure their safety and security and remove exploitation, discrimination and violence against women," he said in a Raj Bhavan statement.
