Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has been conferred with D.Litt by the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University for her contribution in the field of music.
YCMOU Registrar Dr Dinesh Bhonde said though Mangeshkar (87) will not attend the event, the honour will be presented to her at her residence in Mumbai in a function, date for which will be announced later.
The Bharat Ratna-awardee is one of the most respected and versatile playback singers in country, with the career spanning over seven decades.
Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed University Malkapur-Karad (Formerly KIMS) Chancellor Dr Vedprakash Mishra, Pro-Chancellor of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Science, and YCMOU VC Dr Dilip Mhaisekar will preside over the function.
