CPI-M senior leader Sitaram Yechury today voiced serious concern in Rajya Sabha over his name being dragged in a communication sent by HRD Ministry to Delhi University Vice Chancellor Dinesh Singh and demanded examination of the matter.

Raising the issue, Yechury demanded that any developments in the University should be communicated in the House since the Delhi University is a Central University and was set up under an Act of Parliament.

"HRD Minister is here. I have raised DU issue. My name has been brought in a letter ...My name has been dragged. I had given a notice on this during the Zero Hour too. Please have this matter examined," Yechury said in the presence of the Human Resource Minister Smriti Irani in the House.

The CPI-M leader was apparently referring to a show cause notice sent to the DU VC about the circumstances under which he had introduced the controversial four-year under graduate programme without taking necessary approval.

Yechury had made representations to the President, the Visitor the University, about the Vice-Chancellor's role in introducing the programme.

"DU has been established by an Act of Parliament," Yechury said as he demanded that all communications should be put before the House since DU is a Central University.
