Youth arrested for attempting to rape a minor girl

A 30-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a four-and-a-half- year-old girl, police said today.

City Station House Inspector Ravinder Singh said Sonu of Palahigate area lured the girl yesterday evening when she was playing with her six-year-old brother outside the house.

The mother of the victim got an alert when her son told that the girl was taken into a room by the accused, he said, adding when the mother went into the room, she found that Sonu was trying to rape the girl, Singh said.

A case has been registered in this regard under section 376/511 (attempt to rape) of the IPC, he added.
