Youth elopes with minor, booked for rape

A case of kidnapping and raping a minor girl has been registered against a 22-year-old youth in the district today, police said.

The accused V Naresh was having an affair with the teenage girl and the duo eloped on January 1, they said.

"A case of rape has been registered because the consensual sex with minor is also construed as rape as per law," said inspector T Appala Naidu of Bheemunipatnami police station.

The duo were traced in a village near Bheemuniatnam.

A case under various sections of IPC and under SC and ST Act was registered against Naresh on the complaint lodged by the family members of the girl.
