Youth held for bid to sexually assault minor girl

A 27-year-old man was arrested here today on the charge of attempting to sexually assault an eight-year-old girl.

Ravikantha, a native of Odhisha and employed in a textile mill here, had taken the girl to a lonely place in Somanur on the city outskirts last evening and attempted to sexually assault her.

The girl's father saw her coming home with torn clothes and crying.

Based on a complaint, the All Woman Police Station in Thudiyalur arrested Ravikantha. He was produced before a court which remanded him into judicial custody, police said.
