Youth jailed for 8 yrs for robbing NSG commando's wife

Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar Jain sentenced Delhi resident Sheikh Munna, convicting him on charges of attempt to murder and robbery.
"Snatching of belongings of a female finding her alone is quite serious offence, it creates an atmosphere of insecurity among female members of the society.
"Since, complainant and her husband were on their way to further journey and the incident had taken place near the railway station, such incidents to the passengers/tourists not only creates an atmosphere of insecurity among them, but also gives a bad name to the city," the court said.
The incident was reported to the nearby police station of New Delhi Railway Station (NDRS) on March 12, 2011.
The complainant Asha Rani had said she, along with her minor daughter and her husband B Udai Raj, an NSG commando, were going to the New Delhi railway station to take a train to their native place on March 13, when a man came and tried to snatch her gold chain.
On raising alarm, her husband who was 10-15 meters ahead of her, caught hold of that man, but his two other accomplices came from left side and snatched her chain, she said.
During the scuffle, the man took out a knife and assaulted her husband on his face and arms, she had said. (MORE)
