The accused, Sanjay, first made a call on the mobile phone of City police station SHO claiming that he was the chairman of the Human Rights Commission, a police spokesperson said.

He asked that the file relating to his revolver license be passed on to the SP office immediately after completing investigations.

Later, he called the residence landline of the SP and when he was told the police official was busy, the accused demanded urgent audience with him while posing as former Chief Justice Balakrishna.

Sanjay, who runs a jewellery shop, was caught when his number was traced, the spokesperson said, adding that he will be produced in court tomorrow.
