Youth's death in road mishap sparks protest, 3 cops injured

A 19-year-old boy was today allegedly crushed to death by a tractor on Etawah-Bareilly road triggering a violent protest among locals in which three policemen were injured.

The victim was killed after being hit by a sand-laden tractor trolley on Etawah-Bareilly road this morning, police said adding that the driver fled the scene after the accident.

Following the incident the locals sat on dharna demanding compensation for the victim's kin and ban on illegal mining. The protesters turned violent when the police team forcefully tried to clear the road resulting in injuries to three policemen including a Station House Officer and some media persons, police said.
 

The road was however cleared and the body was sent for post mortem, they said adding the injured were sent to hospital for treatment.
