Zinc futures fell 0.79% to Rs 99.95 per kg today as speculators trimmed their positions amid sluggish domestic demand and weak global trend.
In futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc prices for delivery in January declined 80 paise or 0.79% to Rs 100.75 per kg in a business turnover of 1,664 lots.
Metal for delivery in February fell by a similar margin to trade at Rs 100.80 per kg in 57 lots.
Analysts said the fall was due to slack domestic demand in the spot market as metals rout deepened after muted Chinese inflation data increased concern about slowing growth in the world's biggest consumer.
