Zinc prices edged higher by 1.26 per cent to Rs 152.65 per kg in futures market today as traders crated speculative positions, driven by an upsurge in demand at the domestic spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in October month moved up by Rs 1.90 or 1.26 per cent to Rs 152.65 per kg in business turnover of 12,633 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November was trading higher by Rs 1.85 or 1.22 per cent to Rs 153.35 per kg in 1,805 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures to widening of positions, triggered by uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.
