Zinc prices moved down 1.08 per cent to Rs 100.80 per kg in futures market today as speculators indulged in cutting down their bets, tracking a weak trend in the base metals overseas.

Zinc for delivery this month was trading Rs 1.10, or 1.08 per cent down at Rs 100.80 per kg in a business turnover of 1,322 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

The metal for delivery in February fell by Rs 1.10, or 1.07 per cent to trade at Rs 101.50 per kg, in a business turnover of 39 lots.

Marketmen said weakness in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) amid renewed worries over global growth, mainly kept pressure on the zinc prices in futures trade.
