STAR TV-India chief Rathikant Basu, deposing before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the Broadcasting Bill, yesterday suggested that the governments decision to issue a notification banning direct-to-home (DTH) services was not justified and sought its revocation.
Basu, who made a detailed presentation, felt the move was unwarranted as the JPC was already seized of the matter. The committee, headed by Sharad Pawar, was hearing domestic and foreign broadcasting concerns for the second consecutive day yesterday on various aspects of the Bill.
