The National Lottery is having a positive impact on the economy through 110,000 jobs being created or secured by the year 2000, the Henley Centre said in its report.
Camelot, the five-member consortium that operates the lottery, commissioned the Henley Centre, a strategic planning and marketing consultancy, to conduct the study.
The jobs created will be widespread throughout the UK, Camelot chief executive Tim Holley told reporters.
Most of the jobs expected to be created from 1996 through 2000 will be in construction and in the operating and management staffs for centres funded with lottery money, he said.
The study projected that the lottery will fund awards to Good Causes of about nine billion pounds through 2000.
