Bses, Tata Electric Pick Up Bid Papers For Mseb Projects

S Ravindran BSCAL

BSES and Tata Electric Companies (TEC) have purchased the bid documents for the tender floated by the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) for seven independent power projects (IPPs) in the state.

Dabhol Power Company is still undecided about investing in the power projects. The projects range between 50 MW and 100 MW. BSES chairman and managing director R V Shahi, said: We are definitely interested in these power projects and have purchased the documents for four or five projects.

He, however, refused to spell out the sites for which the bid documents had been purchased. I will tell you later, he added.

Sources in TEC, too, said that the company was interested in the projects and had purchased the bid documents. However, they added: We cannot tell you off hand about the sites for which the documents have been purchased. The Maharashtra government has floated global tenders for seven units located at load centres in MIDC areas. These are at Waluj near Aurangabad, Sinnar in Nashik District, Kagal in Kolhapur district, Mahad in Raigad district, Ranjangaon in Pune district, Chincholi near Solapur and Wai near Satara.

All the plants would be Naphtha based and would be completed in 18 months. The Union government has already agreed to release the naphtha quota for these plants. The projects would be finalised after a global investors conference Advantage Maharashtra to be held in Mumbai between February 16 and 18.
