Accountancy and management consultancy Deloitte & Touche yesterday said it had no plans to merge with Andersen Worldwide or any other company. The board of Deloitte & Touche has decided not to merge with anyone, including Andersen, a company spo-kesman said, quoting J Michael Cook, chairman and chief executive of Deloitte (US).
The Wall Street Journals electronic edition reported that Deloitte and Andersen Worldwide had engaged in informal discussions about a possible merger. However, the newspaper quoted a Deloitte official as saying the talks had got stalled because Andersen has been occupied with its own internal fight between Andersen Consulting and Arthur Andersen.
