Groundnut oil firmed up further on better demand and slightly restricted arrivals, while other industrial oils ruled easy-to-steady at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market here yesterday. Imported palmolein eased further on better arrivals. In futures section, castorseeds December contract opened up and advanced further towards closing.
Groundnut oil improved by Rs 2 at Rs 347 per 10 kg on improved demand at reduced level and moderate arrivals .
Linseed oil and cottonseed oil (washed) improved by Rs 5 and Rs 3 to Rs 285 and Rs 288 per 10 kg respectively on firm industrial demand and limited inflows. Copra oil white and mowra oil declined by Rs 5 each to Rs 505 and Rs 230 per 10 kg on reduced industrial demand and modest arrivals. Imported palmolein softened further by Rs 1.50 at Rs 265 per 10 kg on dull industrial demand. Other oils ruled overall steady on narrow movements.

In futures section, December contract opened Re 1 up at Rs 1166.50 and firmed up to Rs 1169 a quintal. It declined to Rs 1166.50 before closing at Rs 1167.50 a quintal on upward movements.
In oilseeds, castor seeds Madras and Maharashtra improved by Rs 9 each to Rs 1195 and Rs 1189 a quintal respectively.
Sugar: A firm to upward trend was noticed at the wholesale sugar market yesterday. Both the grades moved up on improved buying interest.
Sugar M-30 improved to Rs 1515/1545 against the previous level of Rs 1510/1540 a quintal on limited inflow and better consumer offtake. The S-30 grade firmed up to Rs 1500/1511 from the previous level of Rs 1490/1504 a quintal on better consumer demand coupled with normal arrivals. Sugar for the check post deliveries were quoted low at Rs 1485/1495 a quintal for S-30 grade and Rs 1505/1520 for the M-30 grade.
Non-ferrous metals: A steady trend was witnessed in the local non-ferrous market. The undertone of the market was weak.
In virgin section, a totally quiet conditions were noticed. All the metals ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted. Copper wirebar was quoted at Rs 128, aluminium ingots at Rs 82, zinc slabs at Rs 82.75, lead ingots at Rs 41.50, tin slabs at Rs 310 and nickel cathodes at Rs 319 a kg respectively. In scraps section, all the metals ruled steady and were nominally quoted as: copper heavy scraps Rs 118, copper utensils Rs 109.50, brass utensils Rs 95.50, brass sheetcuttings Rs 101.50 and aluminium scraps Rs 62.50 a kg.
Bullion : A mixed trend was noticed in the local bullion market yesterday. Silver declined while gold ruled overall steady.
In white metals, silver both .999 and .916 declined further by Rs 75 each to Rs 7260 and Rs 7160 a kg respectively on weak industrial demand. Arrivals remained brisk from upcountry centres. Delhi advices were weak.
In yellow metals, both standard gold and 22 carat gold ruled overall steady and were nominally quoted at Rs 4450 and Rs 4115 a kg respectively. Arrivals were modest. Gold biscuit prices ruled steady at Rs 52,200 a piece of gold bar of 10 tolas.
