Amidst an ongoing tussle over the constitution of a search committee formed to find a new director at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), its new chairman of Board of Governing Council AM Naik will take time to think over it.
The IIM-A board on Monday met with Naik, also CMD of L&T presiding over it for the first time since taking over as the chairman.
While already a search committee had been formed by former IIM-A chairman Vijaypat Singhania few days before his term ended, some members of the board had later objected to the way in which the committee was formed.
"All members put forth their opinions regarding the procedure in which the search committee was formed. Now it is the chairman who has to take a call and he said he will get back to us in a few days," said an IIM-A board member on condition of anonymity.
Talking to Business Standard, Naik said, "Nothing has been decided yet. We will get back in 3-4 days."
While as per protocol, IIM-A board chairman is also the ex-officio head of the search committee, on March 24, Singhania had finalised a four-member committee within few hours of the conclusion of the board meeting, without naming a chairperson for the committee.
The four-member committee formed by Singhania comprised Rama Bijapurkar, management consultant and visiting faculty, Ashank Desai, CMD, Mastek Ltd, Prafull Anubhai, chairman - board of management at Ahmedabad University (AU), and Hasit Joshipura, vice president - South Asia and Managing Director - Inida of GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
