The Wholesale Debt Segment (WDM) at the National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed active trading interest with the WDM recording a volume of Rs 430.82 crore.There were as many as 91 trades being reported at the NSE screen with many foreign banks actively participating in the trading, said a broker. Most of these foreign banks were making purchases while nationalised banks were sellers, added the broker.
However, the treasury bills segment saw only six trades contributing to a volume of Rs 47 crore. The 11 per cent government loan 2002 was in demand contributing to a volume of Rs 75 crore. It saw 14 trades. The paper was traded at a low of Rs 96.50, high of Rs 97. 45 and at the weighted average yield of 11.93 per cent.The 11.25 per cent government loan 2005 was traded for Rs 60 crore at the weighted average of 12.17 per cent. The paper was traded for a low of Rs 98.25 and high of Rs 98.85.
The 12 per cent government loan maturing on 1999 saw 10 trades and contributed to a volume of Rs 55 crore. Of these, one was a repo deal of Rs 10 crore for a term of eight days and at the rate of 9.10 per cent. The other trades were conducted at the weighted average yield of 11.43 per cent, at the low of Rs 100.40 and high of Rs 100.60.
