Values Upbeat

The upbeat trend in share values continued on the Calcutta stock exchange following hectic speculative-cum-investment buying yesterday. Sellers were difficult to find and taking advantage of the situation bull operators continued their buying spree. The CSE new index jumped to 115.60 points compared to the previous closing of 114.09 points, gaining 1.51 points.
ITC stayed in limelight and after opening low at Rs 521, advanced to touch a high of Rs 542.80 before a profit booking forced it to close at Rs 529.10. More than 54.90 lakh shares were traded generating a turnover of more than Rs 291.75 crore. Tata Tea touched a high of Rs 362 before closing at Rs 353.20.
Other gainers in the specified group were ACC (Rs 73), CESC (Rs 1.55), Eveready (Rs 3), Gujarat Ambuja Cement (Rs 22.80), HLL (Rs 16), IPCL (Rs 3.10), Indo Gulf (Rs 2.25), SBI Rs 4.50), Telco (Rs 19.40), Tisco (Rs 3.90), ICICI (Rs 2), and L&T (Rs 3.90).
