Worldtel Victim Of Board Politics: Mascarenhas

Television production company WorldTels US-based chief, Mark Mascarenhas, has asserted that his firm has been made a victim of politics.

In a press release, Mascarenhas stated, contrary to recent reports in the Indian media, WorldTels role is not under scrutiny.

He was referring to the faction fight in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the consequent war of words between Delhi and Districts Cricket Associations sports secretary Sunil Dev and International Cricket Council president Jagmohan Dalmiya who is also the president of the Cricket Association of Bengal.

Mascarenhas reiterated WorldTel had always won cricket telecast rights by being the highest bidder.

 

Regarding the 1996 Wills World Cup, Mascarenhas stated the only matter that remained to be resolved was the arbitration case before former BCCI president N K P Salve.

The decision on the money to be paid to Pilcom (World Cup organisers) by WorldTel is not in our hands. It is for the arbitrator to decide after going through the process. According to a media report, the Pakistan cricket board is anxious to get their share. But then we, as law abiding citizens, must abide by the rules, he added.
