The remains of Zimbabwe's ex-president Robert Mugabe who died early this month, have been moved from his Harare house to his rural village ahead of burial expected this weekend, his family said Friday.
After weeks of wrangling between government and his family over the final resting place for the country's founding leader, the Mugabes have opted to entomb him at his birth place and rural home, about 90 kilometres (55 miles) west of the capital Harare.
The body was moved by road on Thursday evening under police and military vehicles escort, according to a video clip shared on Twitter.
It was the second time it made its way back to Kutama village in Zvimba district where Mugabe was born 95 years ago.
When the body was first taken home last week for the public to pay their last respects, it was airlifted by a military helicopter.
"The body arrived (at the village) around 1900 hours, yesterday," family spokesman and Mugabe's nephew Leo Mugabe told AFP on Friday.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed Ankara would continue to purchase oil and natural gas from Iran despite US sanctions in comments published on Friday.
The United States reimposed sanctions on Iran after pulling out of the landmark 2015 nuclear deal, and says it aims to reduce Tehran's energy sales to zero.
"It is impossible for us to cancel relations with Iran with regards to oil and natural gas. We will continue to buy our natural gas from there," Erdogan told Turkish reporters before leaving New York where he was attending the UN General Assembly.
Despite this vow, Erdogan admitted Turkey faced difficulty in purchasing oil since the private sector "pulled back because of US threats", NTV broadcaster reported.
"But on this issue especially and many other issues, we will continue our relations with Iran," he promised, adding that Ankara still sought to increase trade volume with Tehran.

Veteran singer Bruce Springsteen is set to release the "Western Stars" soundtrack album on October 25.
Titled, "Western Stars  Songs From The Film" is a compilation of all of the live performances in the film, which centres on Springsteen performing his chart-topping "Western Stars" album at an intimate show in a historic barn in Stone Hill Farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey.
According to Variety, the soundtrack also includes a cover of Glen Campbell's classic "Rhinestone Cowboy".
"Westren Stars" movie, which is a "cinematic retelling" of Springsteen's first studio album in five years, premiered at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival.
The film is written and performed by Springsteen.
Columbia Records will be releasing the soundtrack album.

Prince Harry is following in the footsteps of his late mother, Princess Diana, whose walk through an active mine field in Angola years ago helped to lead to a global ban on the deadly weapons.
The prince on Friday is set to visit the spot where Diana was famously photographed during her own Africa visit in 1997.
That field in Huambo is now a busy street. Angola is now years past a grinding civil war and hopes to be land mine-free by 2025.
The country director for mine-clearing organization The HALO Trust says Diana's visit is still very much discussed today in Huambo after people were struck by her warmth and willingness to acknowledge their devastating conflict.

A second Indonesian student protester has died in demonstrations against a raft of divisive legal reforms, including banning pre-marital sex and weakening the anti-graft agency, sources said, as fresh unrest was expected Friday.
The 19-year-old engineering student died in hospital of blunt-force injuries to his head sustained in riots that erupted in Kendari city on Sulawesi island on Thursday, local hospital director Sjarif Subijakto told AFP.
The victim's relatives also confirmed the teen's death early Friday. The precise circumstances surrounding his death were not clear.
"His father has accepted his death, he just wants to know how it happened," relative Rahmat, who gave only his first name, told AFP in Kendari.
"But his mother is still in shock."

An Indian immigrant who lost a third of his weight during a 70-day hunger strike over the rejection of his asylum claim won temporary release Thursday after a year in US detention.
Ajay Kumar, 33, bowed with his hands clasped together in a traditional Indian greeting as he walked away from a detainee processing center in El Paso, Texas, with a tracking device around his ankle  a condition of his release. He was accompanied by human rights activists, who had been galvanized by medical personnel force-feeding him.
The painful procedure involves pumping liquid food into the stomach via a tube through his nose.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials agreed to a deal last week in which Kumar and another Indian national resumed eating on a promise that they would be released, according to their lawyers.

Chinese retail giant Suning said Friday it has acquired 80 percent of French supermarket Carrefour's China business as it aims to tap online food sales and expand its physical presence.
Three months after the agreement was first announced, Nanjing-based Suning said in a statement posted on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange that it paid 4.8 billion yuan ($670 million) in the cash transaction completed on Thursday.
"The comprehensive digitization of retail elements is the first priority of traditional retail industry facing future development," said Suning Holdings Group's CEO Zhang Jindong in a letter to welcome 30,000 Carrefour workers in China.
One of the world's biggest food retailers, Carrefour is in the middle of a major reorganisation after repeated losses.

The British-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero, which had been held off the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas for more than two months, set sail Friday, an Iranian shipping organisation said.
The ship's seizure was widely seen as a tit-for-tat move after authorities in the British overseas territory of Gibraltar detained an Iranian tanker on suspicion it was shipping oil to Syria in breach of EU sanctions.
Tehran repeatedly denied the cases were related but a Gibraltar last month ordered the Iranian tanker's release despite an 11th-hour US legal bid to keep it in detention.
"The Stena Impero started sailing from the mooring towards the Persian Gulf's international waters as of 9:00 am (0530 GMT) today," Hormozgan province's maritime organisation said on its website.

In a first, researchers watched a supermassive black hole -- weighing about 6 million times the Sun's mass -- shred a star apart in a cosmic cataclysm called a tidal disruption event.
The discovery made using NASA's planet-hunting Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) -- with follow-up observations by NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, and other facilities -- produced the most detailed look of the star-destroying event.
NASA said that tidal disruptions are incredibly rare, occurring once every 10,000 to 100,000 years in a galaxy the size of our own Milky Way, with only 40 such events observed so far.

According to Variety, the film is inspired by the true story of Irish priest Malachi Martin, who was brought in by the US government to perform a sanctioned exorcism on a young soldier at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Beau Flynn, who served as a producer on "The Exorcism of Emily Rose", will be backing the project via his Flynn Picture Company.
