Andhra picks company to build 'India's largest' PCB manufacturing factory

SSEPL commits to invest Rs 1,076 cr in facility; gets state government's approval for two other projects

The Andhra Pradesh government will set up “India’s largest” printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing factory in Menakuru village near Naidupeta town, picking private company Syrma Strategic Electronics (SSEPL) for the project.

 

SSEPL will invest Rs 1,076 crore to establish a manufacturing and research and development factory that’s projected to generate 1,011 jobs. It’s the first project to be approved under Andhra’s new Electronics Components Manufacturing and Supply (ECMS) Policy (2025–30).

 

SSEPL will get “early-bird” incentives, including a 75 per cent subsidy cost for 12.56 acres of land allotted by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), subject to clearance from the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

 

 

The facility will produce various kinds of PCBs, which are used in consumer electronics, automotive, telecom, and renewable energy sectors. Andhra government officials said the facility will help reduce India’s import dependence on PCBs, a major gap in the electronics value chain.

 

Andhra approved two other proposals by the Syrma Group, of which SSEPL is a subsidiary, in Naidupeta. Syrma Components will invest Rs 417.78 crore for a copper clad laminate facility that has the potential to create 647 jobs. Under the ECMS policy, the unit will get 10 acres of land at 75 per cent subsidised cost in Menakuru.

 

Syrma SGS Technology, a Chennai-based electronics manufacturing services company, will invest Rs 100 crore for an electronics manufacturing services factory that is projected to create 510 jobs. The factory will be allotted 4.14 acres at APIIC’s cost.

 

Syrma has in total committed Rs 1,593 crore for the three projects that are expected to generate more than 2,100 jobs. The State Investment Promotion Board approved the group’s proposals on August 28. The ECMS policy offers a bouquet of incentives, including capital subsidies, power incentives, and land at concessional rates to attract early investors.

 

“We are ready to start once the PLI [production-linked incentive] is cleared. Trial productions will start in 2026–27, and commercial production is likely by 2027-28. Andhra Pradesh is offering a proactive policy," J S Gujral, managing director of Syrma SGS Technology, told Business Standard in July.
