A 28-year-old person has been arrested for the alleged murder of Jonali Nath, the BJP’s Goalpara district secretary in Assam, the day after her dead body was found next to a national highway in the district. Hasinur Islam, 28, who was arrested in connection with her death is said to have been in a relationship with her, according to the police.
Islam was apprehended for questioning, according to IG Law and Order Prasanta Kumar Bhuyan, who discovered over 500 calls in the previous two months in which he confessed to the murder. According to Bhuyan, the murder may have been caused by a disagreement between the two regarding his marriage to another woman. Several leaders of the BJP offered their condolences regarding Nath's passing.

Nath's relatives allegedly told the police know that she had left for Islampur on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. for personal work. At about 7 o'clock, her spouse tried to call her but the phone rang unanswered. Her body was found around 12 am after the family later informed the police regarding the incident. The family told that Jonali's body gave a few indications of injury.
On Monday, members of her family revealed to reporters that the evidence suggests that she was brutally murdered and the criminals dumped her body after the crime. An investigation has been launched by the Goalpara Police. Two individuals have been taken into custody, according to officials who are familiar with the situation. The deceased Jonali Nath hailed from Matia town in Goalpara.
As per reports, the lady BJP leader was allegedly killed, and her body was dumped on national highway 17 in Krishnai. The grim discovery was made late Sunday night by villagers in the Shalpara area near NH 17 and they immediately called the police. A report stated that local witnesses noted that the body displayed multiple signs of injury, indicating that she had been assaulted and killed by unidentified criminals who fled the scene.
