
Srinagar (JandK), Mar 09 (ANI): The forensic science laboratory in Srinagar today got state-of-the art DNA testing division and upgraded cyber forensic division. This new hi- tech facility was inaugurated by Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Governor K Vijay Kumar. The divisions were sanctioned for boasting the criminal justice system of state home department in year 2015.  DNA profiling is a technique in which a DNA is generated from the biological sample to link crime with criminals with an extremely high degree of accuracy. Earlier, the cases for DNA tests were sent to other laborites of the country like Chandigarh and New Delhi resulting into protraction in delivery of Justice. The laboratory is adorned with the modern sophisticated equipment's like genetic analyzer. Besides K Vijay Kumar senior police officers including IG Kashmir S P Pani and forensic staff members were also present during the inauguration of this facility.

The Delhi High Court on Monday asked Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others to respond to a plea by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenging a trial court order refusing to take cognisance of its chargesheet against them in the National Herald case.
Justice Ravinder Dudeja issued notice to the Gandhis and others on the main petition as well as on the ED's application seeking a stay on the December 16 trial court order, which held that cognisance of the agency's complaint in the case was "impermissible in law" as it was not founded on an FIR
