AircraftO services provider Haveus Aerotech India on Friday said it has signed an initial pact with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd for exploring business opportunities in the civil aviation sector both in the domestic and international markets. Embraer sees opportunity to partner with India for aerospace development

Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer sees a good opportunity to partner with India to develop a strong aerospace industry in both the countries by synergising their strengths, company President and CEO Francisco Gomes Neto said on Friday. The challenges in the global supply chain brought by the pandemic also brings about opportunities to develop new partnerships in order to develop resilience, he said while speaking at a panel discussion at the B20 Summit India 2023. "India has a very competitive labour cost. India has the availability of engineering, design, (and) technical expertise, and we from Embraer, we have knowledge and experience to develop, certify and manufacture aircraft. Defence ministry clears Rs 7,800 cr acquisition including LMG, helicopter

The defence ministry on Thursday approved capital acquisition proposals worth approximately Rs 7,800 crore that included procurement of electronic warfare suite for Mi-17 V5 helicopters. The proposals were cleared by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The defence ministry said the proposals approved by the DAC included one on procurement of 7.62x51 mm Light Machine Gun (LMG) and another on acquisition of weapons MH-60R helicopters of the Indian Navy. "A Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) meeting, held under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals worth approximately Rs 7,800 crore," the ministry said in a statement. "To enhance the efficiency of the Indian Air Force, the DAC has granted AoN for procurement and installation of Electronic Warfare (EW) Suite on Mi-17 V5 helicopters under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category," it said. French IT company Expleo's Indian arm plans to more than double its workforce in the country by hiring around 5,000 people over a period of two-and-a-half years, a senior official of the company said. Expleo Solutions CEO and MD Balaji Viswanathan, who heads India business, told PTI that the company sees growth primarily on account of expansion of business in the US. "The company aims to hire an additional more than 5,000 people over the next two-and-a-half years, including a focus on hiring fresh graduates. While other larger players are slowing down on hiring fresh graduates, the company believes it will provide future growth acceleration. The expectation is to double the current workforce of around 4,700 people, reaching a little over 9,700 employees," he said. HAL, Argentinian aerospace firm FAdeA to explore collaboration in MRO space

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Argentina's Fabrica Argentina de Aviones (FAdeA) signed an MoU towards exploring the possibilities of collaboration in the field of maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO). The agreement will also involve meeting any offset requirements in case of probable sale of HAL-made platforms in Latin American region. The pact was inked during the ongoing Paris Air Show 2023, Bengaluru-headquartered state-run company HAL said in a statement on Wednesday. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday said it is time for India to look at manufacturing of aerospace products as he highlighted the growth potential of the country's aviation sector. He also said domestic airlines are together projected to have a fleet of around 2,000 planes in the next five to seven years. It is time to look at manufacturing of aerospace products in India. "Time is ripe for manufacturing to take off in India," he said. Speaking at a summit organised by aviation consultancy CAPA here, the minister said, "we need to increase the ecosystem of Indian civil aviation". "Come and be part of the civil aviation growth story," he said. According to him, as many as 15 Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) are expected to be set up by the end of this year, taking the total number of FTOs to 50. Currently, there are 35 FTOs.
