Precision Air plane crashes into lake Victoria in Tanzania: Reports

Tanzanian media are reporting that a Precision Air plane has crashed into Lake Victoria on approach to Bukoba Airport. It is not immediately clear how many people were on board or whether anyone died in Sunday's crash. The news reports show photos of the plane mostly submerged in the lake and say rescue work has begun. Precision Air is a Tanzanian company.

Russian warplane falls on residential building in Siberia; 2 pilots die

A Russian warplane slammed into a residential building in the Siberian city of Irkutsk on Sunday, killing both crewmembers, authorities said. It was the second time in less than a week that a combat jet crashed in a residential area in Russia. The Irkutsk region's governor, Igor Kobzev, said the Su-30 fighter jet came down on a private, two-story building housing two families. He said that there were no casualties on the ground as the building's five residents were out at the moment of the crash. He said the residents would be offered temporary accommodation and compensation. The cause of the crash wasn't immediately known and an official probe has started. On Oct. 17, an Su-34 bomber crashed near an apartment building in the Sea of Azov port of Yeysk and exploded in a giant fireball, killing 15 and injuring another 19. Aeroplanes will be manufactured in Gujarat soon, says PM Modi in Rajkot

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed confidence that aeroplanes will soon be manufactured in Gujarat and their spare parts will be made at Rajkot in the state. He was addressing a gathering in the Race Course area of Rajkot city after launching a host of projects, including houses for the economically weaker sections. Modi is on a two-day visit to his home state Gujarat, where Assembly elections are due by December end. Praising the engineering industry in Rajkot district during his address, Modi said, "Aeroplanes will be manufactured in Gujarat soon and their spare parts will be made in Rajkot." Some leaders built bungalows for themselves after coming into politics, but did not do anything for the poor, he said without mentioning anyone. "They came into politics and built their bungalows, but never thought of improving the conditions of those living in slums. I have taken up the work of building houses for the poor" he said. Mumbai-bound flight grounded after take-off in Bhopal due to technical snag

A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh was grounded after take-off on Monday due to a technical snag, an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official said here. The flight returned to Bhopal's Raja Bhoj International Airport after take-off due to the snag in the morning, he said. It was carrying 183 passengers, 117 of whom were adjusted in another aircraft in the evening by cancelling a Delhi-bound flight, the official informed. "The remaining passengers were adjusted on other flights and also by arranging accommodation," he added.
