Adani Group on Wednesday started work on building India's first first integrated data centre and technology business park at Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. The park will host a 200+ MW of data centre capacity, powered with up to 100 per cent renewable energy, the group said. The park will also house a skill development centre. Supreme Court sets aside HC stay on SIT probe in Amaravati land case

In a shot in the arm for the Jagan Mohan Reddy government, the Supreme Court on Wednesday set aside an Andhra Pradesh High Court order which had stayed an SIT probe into alleged irregularities in the land deals in Amaravati during the previous TDP regime. Through a government order of September 26, 2019, the Reddy government had appointed a Cabinet Sub Committee to examine the allegations of corruption against members of the erstwhile government which recorded a prima facie finding about certain allegations. On the basis of the report, the state government issued a second order and constituted the 10-member SIT, headed by a Deputy Inspector General of Police-rank IPS officer, to conduct a comprehensive investigation into various alleged irregularities, particularly the land deals in the Amaravati Capital Region, during the previous Chandrababu Naidu regime. The United Arab Emirates' Ambassador to India, Abdulnasser Alshaali, called on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday and explored investment opportunities in the state. The UAE ambassador explained to the Chief Minister about the Gulf country's interest in sectors such as food parks, food processing units, tourism, hospitality, green hydrogen, ports, petrochemical complexes and infrastructure development. According to Alshaali, UAE considers Andhra Pradesh to be a lead state for investment, a press note shared by the state government on Monday said. CM Reddy promised the UAE Ambassador any kind of assistance and cooperation, including explaining the state's "transparent policies". AP govt sets up checkposts to stop liquor, cash flow to poll-bound K'taka

The Andhra Pradesh government has set up 45 integrated checkposts in its districts bordering Karnataka to rein in the flow of illegal liquor, cash and other inducements to the poll-bound state, Chief Secretary K S Jawahar Reddy said on Monday. The checkposts would be manned by officials from police, excise, commercial taxes, revenue and other departments, he said. "Already, 3,008 litres of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL), 444 tetra packs of 90 ml liquor cartons and two and half kg of marijuana have been confiscated," the Chief Secretary said in a video conference organised by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday directed officials to incorporate "state-of-the-art technology" to implement policy, particularly in revenue generating departments, and thereby reduce human involvement in the process. Stating that the use of technology would improve efficiency and render improvised services to taxpayers with full transparency, the chief minister, at a review meeting on revenue generating departments, instructed officials to conduct a study and submit a detailed report by the next review. The Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has forecast severe heat wave conditions in six mandals and heat waves in 174 more for Sunday. Severe heat wave conditions are expected in Kunavaram mandal in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, Noutavaram (Anakapalli), Kotananduru (Kakinada) and Jiyyammavalasa, Komarada and Parvatipuram (Parvatipuram Manyam). Likewise, heat wave is expected to hit 10 mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, 17 each in Anakapalli, East Godavari and Eluru, 12 in Gunturu and13 in Kakinada, said APSDMA in a statement on Saturday. Parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar may experience heatwave conditions over the next three to four days, the India Meteorological Department said on Thursday. Earlier this month, the Met office predicted above-normal maximum temperatures for most parts of the country from April to June, except parts of the northwest and the peninsular regions. Above-normal heatwave days are expected in most parts of central, east, and northwest India during this period. : City-based paint maker Techno Paints on Tuesday said it was setting up three more plants -- at Visakhapatnam and Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and Katni in Madhya Pradesh -- to manufacture cement putty, textures, primers and emulsions. In the first phase, each plant will have an annual capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes.
