AI to enhance human skills, not replace expertise: Airbus executive

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a responsible enabler designed to augment human capability and not a replacement for expertise, Airbus India chief Jurgen Westermeier said on Wednesday. The President and Managing Director for India and South Asia at Airbus also said that AI should be seen as a bridge that helps to be more efficient and optimise resources on the way to the net-zero goals. He was speaking at a session of the AI Impact Summit here. Aircraft maker Airbus has a significant presence in India. Westermeier said Al is not a replacement for expertise, rather it is a responsible and ethical enabler designed to augment human capability. "Whether through predictive maintenance, optimising logistics or streamlining complex engineering, Al allows us to move from abstract ambition to practical, high-impact results," he said. India may be faster in AI adoption than America in 10 yrs: Sridhar Vembu

India may be faster in AI adoption than America in ten years with its youthful, more optimistic population embracing the new wave of technology, Zoho Corporation Co-founder and Chief Scientist, Sridhar Vembu said on Wednesday. Like how UPI became mass-scale in India, AI could also be the same, Vembu said while speaking at the AI Impact Summit here. Citing the example of fibre optics, he said back in 2000s American venture capitalists sold many "10s of billions (of dollars) into telecom companies, particularly fiber optics" and it is "everywhere in India" but not so in America. "...in 10 years...India might be faster in terms of AI adoption than even America...," Vembu said. He further said the reason is that "we have a very youthful optimistic population. We don't have a population that is very skeptical...which is a blessing." Unlike the "unwilling crowd", he said in India the openness to accept and embrace AI is much higher. For the country to be ahead in AI, Vembu asked the y

India needs to ramp up AI investment; tax holiday a big opportunity: Nvidia

India needs to scale up investment in Artificial Intelligence from the current USD 1.2 billion to match the global levels and the Budget announcement of 20-year tax holiday to foreign companies offers "foundational infrastructure" for expanding AI, a senior NVIDIA official said on Wednesday. Shanker Trivedi, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Business at NVIDIA, said of the 2,000 global corporations, 1,800 have a major global capability centre in India currently employing over 2 million people, shortly to grow to 3 million. "Everyone of these global capability centres needs their own local AI factory from which they will take their data, their business processes, their IP, and convert it into intelligence. And, so, this (Budget announcement) is a very big opportunity here in India. And as we describe, this is foundational infrastructure," Trivedi said at the AI Impact Summit 2026. In the Union Budget 2026-27, a tax holiday of 20 years up to 2047 was announced to any foreign company .
