Projects inaugurated by PM Modi result of govts collaboration: Kejriwal

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday described the two projects inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as milestones for Delhi's infrastructure and claimed they were joint ventures between the central and the city governments. Modi on Sunday inaugurated a 13-kilometre stretch of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor from Sahibabad in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad to New Ashok Nagar here and the Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension section of the Delhi Metro's Phase IV. At a press conference, Kejriwal congratulated the people of Delhi and asserted that the projects were a collaboration between the city and the central governments. Taking a dig at his critics, Kejriwal said, "These inaugurations are a reply to those who say AAP only engages in fights." Referring to the challenges faced by his party, he claimed AAP leaders were imprisoned and tortured but maintained their focus on governance. "Over the past 10 years, our tenure has shown how we kept work ab

Delhi polls: Parties go tech-savvy, use AI for creative ads, sharp jibes

With Assembly elections in Delhi due in February, political parties are using Artificial Intelligence to churn out creative ads and visuals -- projecting their leaders as heroes and targeting rivals with sharp jibes. From calling its supremo Arvind Kejriwal the "GOAT" (Greatest of All Time) to portraying him as "Delhi ka Beta" (Son of Delhi), the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is creatively leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) in its campaigns. On the other hand, the BJP is labelling Kejriwal as the "Original Mahathag" (master conman) in AI-generated videos and posters. In one instance, a scene from Amitabh Bachchan's movie "Baghban", which depicts parents enduring neglect from their children despite their sacrifices, was modified with AI to feature Kejriwal, emphasising that "Delhi ka Beta" will never abandon the people. Delhi BJP's X handle also has multiple ad clips, including videos featuring Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi. In one such video, Atishi is shown praising Kejr

BJP, Cong should formally declare alliance for Delhi polls, says Kejriwal

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said the Congress and the BJP should formally declare their alliance, amid the two opposition parties sharpening their attacks on the former chief minister ahead of the Delhi Assembly polls. Kejriwal also took a dig at the Congress, saying barring a few mediapersons, people had stopped taking the party "seriously". He alleged a "covert, behind-the-scenes" collaboration between the two parties for the assembly polls. Relations between AAP and the Congress, both partners in the opposition INDIA bloc, soured after the two sides failed to seal an alliance for the Haryana elections. AAP has also demanded action against senior Congress leader Ajay Maken for allegedly calling Kejriwal "anti-national" and threatened to approach other parties of the INDIA bloc for removing the grand old party from the grouping. Earlier on Saturday, some women protested outside Kejriwal's Firozshah Road residence, demanding payment of a monthly honorarium of Rs 1,000

Instead of creating infra in Delhi, Kejriwal built 'sheesh mahal': Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday slammed Arvind Kejriwal for building a "sheesh mahal" for himself instead of creating infrastructure in the capital during his nearly 10-year term as Delhi chief minister, saying the AAP convenor will have to give an account for it. Addressing an event after inaugurating a working women's hostel -- Sushma Bhavan -- of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, Shah listed a host of expensive items and appliances used in Kejriwal's official residence as the chief minister, saying he had never heard of some of those things. When Kejriwal entered politics, he vowed not to take a government car or bungalow, and promised to herald a new kind of politics, Shah said. But the AAP leader could not be satisfied by one, two, three or four bungalows, and instead built himself a "sheesh mahal" spread across 50,000 square yards of land, costing people of Delhi Rs 45 crore, he added. The BJP has been using the term "sheesh mahal", a colloquial Hindi term for an

Kejriwal promises to waive 'inflated' water bills if AAP returns to power

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday promised to waive the "inflated" water bills received by people in Delhi if his party returns to power in the upcoming assembly polls in the national capital next month. In a press conference here, Kejriwal said that people were "distressed" due to water bills worth thousands and lakhs of rupees being sent to them by the Delhi Jal Board. He alleged that the inflated water bills started arriving after he went to jail and urged people not to pay those bills. "I have said this earlier, but today I am making a formal announcement: when AAP comes back to power after the assembly polls, these inflated bills will be waived. Those who think their bills are incorrect need not pay them," the former Delhi chief minister said. The AAP government provides free 20,000 liters of water per month and over 12 lakh households in the city have benefitted from the scheme, he added. The AAP is seeking to return to power for the fourth consecutive term after the .

PM Modi's 'Parivartan Rally' on Sunday will be game changer in Delhi: BJP

The BJP will take its Delhi Assembly poll campaign to the next level with the "Parivartan Rally" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rohini with "major announcements" for Delhi, party leaders said on Thursday. The rally is scheduled to be held Sunday at Japanese Park in Rohini in northwest Delhi. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in the run-up to Delhi Assembly polls next month has announced a Rs 2,100 monthly payment for women and an honorarium of Rs 18,000 per month for priests and granthis. "Some big-ticket announcements are expected to be made by Modi in the rally. These will have a course-changing impact on our campaign," said a top Delhi BJP functionary. The Delhi BJP has already claimed that the "free" schemes of the AAP government will be continued if the party comes to power in Delhi. They have also hinted that the BJP could offer more to Delhi residents through increased free electricity units per month as well as by matching the Rs 2,100 promised by Kejriwal under Mahila Samma

BJP takes dig at Kejriwal over promise of Rs 18,000 honorarium to priests

The BJP on Wednesday took a swipe at Arvind Kejriwal calling him a "bagula bhagat" (pretentious devotee) over his pre-poll promise of giving a monthly honorarium of Rs 18,000 to priests of temples and granthis of gurudwaras. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, party national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi claimed that Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) exemplifies "unreliability" in Indian politics, adding that the people of Delhi have understood its "antics." He alleged that the AAP, which emerged with the promise of bringing change to the country's politics, has lost its "credibility" as it continues to pursue "the same old Congress politics." There was no immediate response from the AAP to the BJP's charge. Asked about Kejriwal's pre-poll promise of providing an honorarium of Rs 18,000 to priests of temples and granthis of gurudwaras, Trivedi wondered why he is making such an announcement instead of implementing it right away, when his party is still in power
