Delhi CM Atishi pushes for timely subsidy disbursement under solar policy

Chief Minister Atishi reviewed the progress of the Delhi Solar Policy, emphasised the importance of timely subsidy distribution, and directed officials to ensure that all consumers who install rooftop solar panels receive their subsidies within a month. Atishi convened a review meeting of the Delhi Solar Policy with senior officials from the power department and Delhi's three electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs) to assess the implementation of the ambitious policy, an official statement said. The Delhi government, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has introduced India's most progressive solar energy initiative, offering consumers generation-based incentives (GBI) for each unit of solar energy produced, it added. "Official guidelines for subsidy distribution should be released within a week," said Atishi, adding that the excess electricity generated by consumers would lead to a direct transfer of subsidies to their bank accounts within seven days. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Friday said universities should not be evaluated solely on the basis of their placement records but also job opportunities their graduates create. Addressing the second convocation of Netaji Subhas University of Technology here, Atishi, who also holds the education portfolio, highlighted the importance of fostering entrepreneurial skills among the youth. "The biggest challenge our youths face today is unemployment. I am pleased to know that 81 per cent of NSUT graduates secured jobs. However, I believe universities should not be evaluated based on placement percentages alone, they should be assessed based on how many jobs their graduates generate. This is the need of the hour," the chief minister said. "Our goal should be to not only secure the best job but also to create job opportunities for others," she added. Atishi also shared success stories from the Delhi government's Business Blaster programme which provides financial support to school student

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Monday moved a sessions court against an order summoning her in a defamation case filed by a BJP leader over her claim that several AAP MLAs were approached by the saffron party with offers of cash to bring down the AAP government. The chief minister moved an application before Additional Sessions Judge Vishal Gogne, who issued notice to BJP leader Praveen Shankar Kapoor on her plea. Atishi approached the sessions court through her lawyer against an order passed by a magisterial court on May 28 summoning her in the criminal case filed by Kapoor, a BJP spokesperson, accusing her and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal of defaming him. The sessions court directed Kapoor to file his response to Atishi's application by October 7, when the court will hear the arguments in the matter. AAP to file plea in SC against illegal MCD standing committee poll: Atishi

The AAP will file a plea in the Supreme Court on Saturday against the "unconstitutional, illegal and undemocratic" MCD standing committee poll, senior party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi said. The BJP won the last vacant seat of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi's 18-member Standing Committee unopposed on Friday as the councillors of the ruling AAP and Congress boycotted the election. In a press conference, Atishi dared the BJP to get the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) dissolved and face the AAP in elections to see who the people want to rule the civic body. She alleged that the elections were held "misusing" the powers of the lieutenant governor and the officers. The rules allow only the mayor to fix the date and place of the MCD House meeting and only the mayor can preside over it, the chief minister said.
