Air India Express to operate its inaugural flight to Ayodhya on Dec 30

Air India Express will operate its inaugural flight to Ayodhya from the national capital on December 30 and will commence scheduled daily service on the route from January 16. The Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport at Ayodhya has an extended runway suitable for A-321/B-737 type aircraft operations. In a release on Wednesday, Air India Express said the inaugural flight IX 2789 on December 30 is scheduled to depart from Delhi at 1100 hours and land in Ayodhya at 1220 hours. From Ayodhya, IX 1769 is scheduled to depart for Delhi at 1250 hours and arrive at 1410 hours. "Air India Express is excited to commence operations from Ayodhya right after the airport opens. This underlines our commitment to enhancing connectivity from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities across the country," the airline's Managing Director Aloke Singh said. Delhi BJP to launch invitation drive ahead of Ram Temple consecration

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva on Sunday said party members would go door-to-door across the city and invite people to visit the Ram temple in Ayodhya after its ceremonial opening. The newly built temple in Ayodhya would be opened for devotees after the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla on January 22, which Sachdeva said, would be celebrated as 'Ram Utsav' by the party. Addressing an organisational meeting of Delhi BJP, Sachdeva said, "We will go door to door giving invitations from January 1 to January 15 and will also talk to the temple committees to decorate all the temples where party leaders and workers will listen to the prime minister's speech at Ayodhya." Construction of proposed mosque in Ayodhya likely to begin in May

Construction of a proposed mosque in Ayodhya mandated by the Supreme Court in its Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case verdict is expected to begin in May, people associated with the project have said. The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation Trust, which is tasked with building the mosque in Ayodhya's Dhannipur, also intends to appoint in-charges in different states starting in February to raise funds. Settling a fractious issue that goes back more than a century, the Supreme Court in a historic verdict on November 9, 2019, backed the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya and ruled that an alternative plot be found for a mosque in the Hindu holy town. The Madhya Pradesh government will welcome devotees travelling to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh for the consecration of the Ram temple, newly-appointed Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has said. UP tables supplementary demand of over Rs 28,700 cr for Ayodhya projects

The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday tabled supplementary demands of Rs 28,760.67 crore, including over Rs 175 crore for various development projects for Ayodhya, for 2023-24 in the state assembly. The budget was presented in the legislative assembly by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna on the second day of the ongoing winter session. The finance minister said that of the supplementary budget, the expenditure on the revenue account is Rs 19,046 crore and the capital account expenditure is Rs 9,714 crore. The government has allocated Rs 50 crore for Ayodhya Conservation and Development Fund while Rs 100 crore has been allocated for "Ramotsav" 2023-24 and Rs 25 crore for the development and expansion of the International Ramayan and Vaidik Research Institute in Ayodhya. Over 2.2 mn 'diyas' light up Ayodhya as Deepotsav sets world record

More than 22 lakh 'diyas' illuminated the banks of the Saryu river in Ayodhya during the seventh edition of the Deepotsav, setting a new world record of lighting a large number of lamps simultaneously at one place. The 22,23 lakh 'diyas' (earthen lanterns), 6.47 lakh more than last year, were lit by 25,000 volunteers at the 51 ghats of Ram Ki Paidi along the river. Ayodhya echoed with 'Jai Shri Ram' after the representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records who counted the lamps using drones and gave the status of world record to the city, the release said. Upon receiving a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended warm greetings to the entire Ayodhya and its residents. In 2017, when the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh, 1.71 lakh lamps were lit in Ayodhya and since then Deepotsav has become a major event in the state.
