Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde to visit Ayodhya after end of Budget session

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will visit Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh after the ongoing budget session of the state legislature ends later this month, his close aide said on Wednesday. Shinde will travel to Ayodhya to offer prayers to Lord Ram after the budget session ends on March 25, he said. A grand temple dedicated to Lord Ram is coming up in the Uttar Pradesh town. Incidentally, Shinde was in Ayodhya with then-Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aaditya Thackeray in mid-June 2022, just days before raising a banner of revolt against the Shiv Sena leadership which eventually triggered the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Ujjain breaks Ayodhya's record with 18.8 lakh diyas on Maha Shivaratri

The Ujjain city in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday evening set a new Guinness world record by lighting 18.82 lakh diyas or earthen oil lamps. About 20,000 volunteers took part in the event which was staged mainly across the banks of the Kshipra river. Swapnil Dangarikar, Guinness World Records' adjudicator, said the previous world record for the "largest display of oil lamps was set at Ayodhya during Diwali 2022 when 15.76 lakh lamps were lit. The record has now been broken in Ujjain with 18.82 lakh oil lamps being lit on Saturday evening, he announced. 60 mn-years-old rare rocks for Lord Ram idol reach Ayodhya from Nepal

Special rocks from which the idol of Lord Ram will be carved out and placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple has arrived from Nepal, a senior functionary of the temple trust here said. The rocks or 'shilas' arrived here late on Wednesday night. Special prayers were held on Thursday afternoon following which the rocks were presented to the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Fifty-one vedic teachers also worshipped the rocks, officials said. Mahant Tapeshwar Das of the Janaki Mandir in Nepal presented these rocks to Champat Rai, general secretary of Ram Temple Trust, they said. The Wrestling Federation of India's (WFI) emergency general council meeting, scheduled here for Sunday, was called off after the Sports Ministry directed it to suspend all ongoing activities owing to the various allegations against the sports body and its president. Uttar Pradesh: Security beefed up in temple city Ayodhya ahead of New Year

Preempting a heavy footfall on the new year in the temple city, police here have beefed up security and marshalled other resources for better crowd control. "On the basis of reports from different government departments, we are prepared to manage the crowd of 50 lakh devotees in Ayodhya on the first day of the new year," Senior Superintendent of Police Muniraj told PTI. He said that about a dozen cranes have been kept on standby to clear roads of all obstructions. "Required route diversions have also been put in place and we have deployed additional force to professionally manage the movement of pilgrims round-the-clock," the officer added.
