Media reports claiming that Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY beneficiaries who are already dead are still on the system getting treatment are misleading, the health ministry said on Thursday. The ministry also said that mobile numbers have no role in deciding beneficiary eligibility. The ministry's remarks came in response to media reports that claimed that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has flagged that treatments have been booked for AB PM-JAY beneficiaries who have been declared dead on the system. The reports also claim that the same beneficiary had been found to avail treatment at two hospitals at the same time. "These media reports are completely misleading and ill-informed," the ministry said. NHA, Irdai hold workshop to fuse insurance cos to Ayushman Bharat platform

The National Health Authority and insurance regulator IRDAI jointly organised a workshop to facilitate the completion of the integration process of insurance companies on the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission platform. The workshop also assisted firms with adoption of health claims exchange specifications and e-claim standards and Third Party Administrators (TPAs). The workshop, organised from August 10-12 in the national capital, saw the participation of over 150 professionals representing 29 insurance companies and 16 TPAs, according to a statement by NHA. In June, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) issued a circular advising all insurance companies to start compiling the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) number of all people seeking insurance cover and obtain their consent for sharing medical records with insurers/TPAs through ABHA. Haryana extends family income limit to avail Ayushman Bharat to Rs 3 lakh

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar Saturday increased the annual income limit under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana from Rs 1.8 lakh to Rs 3 lakh, a move to raise the number of state beneficiaries under the scheme. Khattar made this announcement during the 'Jan Samvad programme' at Bakana village in the Yamunanagar district, said an official release. With this announcement, eight lakh more families in the state are expected to be included under the scheme, taking the total beneficiary families under the Ayushman Bharat Chirayu Haryana Yojana to 38 lakh, Khattar said. The chief minister said the state government has so far spent Rs 500 crore under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He added that the portal for availing of Ayushman cards will be opened for one month. Questioning the Centre over the discrepancies in the database of the Ayushman Bharat scheme by the Comptroller and Auditor General, the AAP on Friday asked whether the government will initiate any probe into it. "The Centre formed the AB-PMJAY scheme to carry out a scam. But there won't be any investigation," chief spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said addressing a press conference. "The CAG report has highlighted irregularities. I want to ask whether a probe will be ordered in this," she said. Action taken against 0.16 mn claims of Rs 287 cr under AB-PMJAY till Aug 5

Appropriate action against over 1.6 lakh claims worth Rs 287 crores has been taken under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) scheme till August 5 by state health agencies, the Lok Sabha was told on Friday. Responding to a question, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said 210 hospitals have been de-empanelled and 188 hospitals suspended due to their involvement in activities non-compliant with the guidelines issued by the National Health Authority (NHA) or the state health authority. A penalty of Rs 20.71 crore has been levied, of which Rs 9.5 crore has been recovered, he said. The NHA has set up a National Anti-Fraud Unit (NAFU) with the primary responsibility of prevention, detection and deterrence of fraud and abuse under AB-PMJAY, Mandaviya said. The Indian government uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to detect suspicious transactions and potential frauds under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), the Rajya Sabha was told on Tuesday. These technologies are used for prevention, detection and deterrence of healthcare frauds in the scheme implementation and are helpful in ensuring appropriate treatment to the eligible beneficiaries, Minister of State for Health SP Singh Baghel said in a written reply. Technology partners are engaged for development and deployment of anti-fraud measures using AI/ML.
