Bengaluru stampede: Siddaramaiah says he's pained, denies link to stadium

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed grief over the stampede that killed 11 people outside the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, saying the incident should not have happened. He also clarified that he "didn't have any connection with the cricket stadium". Addressing reporters here on Sunday, the CM said, "This incident shouldn't have happened, it happened at the Cricket stadium. I don't have any connection with the cricket stadium." Bengaluru stampede: BJP holds protest, seeks resignation of CM, deputy CM

Karnataka BJP legislators and Parliamentarians held a protest here on Sunday, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar over the stampede in Bengaluru that claimed 11 lives. The protest held in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha premises here was led by the leader of opposition in legislative assembly and council R Ashoka and Chalavadi Narayanaseamy. The BJP leaders called for legal action against the two senior Congress leaders, holding them directly responsible for the tragedy. Bengaluru stampede: Retired HC judge to head probe, fix responsibility

The one-man inquiry commission constituted by the Karnataka government under retired High Court judge John Michael Cunha to inquire into the June 4 stampede that killed 11 people, has been asked to identify the persons responsible for the omissions or deficiencies that led to this incident. As per the terms of reference to the commission from the government, it has also suggested precautionary measures that can be taken to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future, among others. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on June 5 announced that a one-man commission would be formed under Cunha to look into the procedural lapses in the issue, and the commission has been asked to give the report in 30 days. A Shankar and E S Jairam have resigned from their respective posts as secretary and treasurer of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), taking moral responsibility for the stampede that led to the death of 11 people during RCB's IPL trophy celebrations. FIR filed against RCB, KSCA, event firm over stampede near stadium gate

An FIR has been registered against RCB, event management firm DNA entertainment networks, Karnataka State Cricket Association and others in connection with the stampede near Chinnaswamny stadium here that claimed the lives of 11 people and injured 56, police said on Thursday. According to the police, the case was registered at Cubbon Park police station under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 115 (Voluntarily causing hurt), 118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by using dangerous weapons or means), 190 (liability of members of an unlawful assembly for offences committed in pursuit of a common object), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging their duty), 125(12) (acts endangering life or personal safety of others), 142 (unlawful assembly) and 121 (abetment of an offence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
