Atul Subhash suicide case: Techie's wife, family members get bail

A city civil court here on Saturday granted bail to engineer Atul Subhash's wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania and brother Anurag Singhania in suicide abetment case. The 34-year-old techie ended his life on December 9 in Bengaluru, alleging harassment at the hands of his estranged wife and her family. According to the prosecution, the three accused appeared before the court. Subhash had alleged that his in-laws had pressurised him to pay Rs three crore for divorse. Based on his 40-page suicide note and a one-and-half hour video explaining the situation that drove him to take the drastic step, the police booked the trio, arrested them and brought them from Uttar Pradesh to Bengaluru.

With just days left for 2025, the Bengaluru Police has made elaborate arrangements for the upcoming New Year celebrations in the city with tight security deployment on heavy footfall areas of the city to ensure safety of public and smooth flow of traffic. Addressing a press conference here, City Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that like every year, Bengaluru Police has made elaborate security arrangements for the New Year Celebrations in the city to ensure no untoward incidents take place. "Based on the previous year's incidents and experience, we are improving the security. We have identified the areas where people are going to gather in large numbers. Housing price at Noida Expressway jumps 66% in 5 yrs: Anarock data

Housing prices in Bengaluru's peripheral location Gunjur have risen by 69 per cent in the last five years, while Noida Expressway in Delhi-NCR witnessed 66 per cent appreciation, according to Anarock. Real estate consultant Ananrock's data showed that average housing prices in Noida Expressway stood at Rs 8,400 per sq ft in the September 2024 quarter against Rs 5,075 per square feet in 2019. NCR's peripheral area Sohna saw price growth of 43 per cent to Rs 5,900 per sq ft from Rs 4,120 per sq ft, while prime area New Gurugram witnessed a 59 per cent rise in the same period. Dwarka Expressway saw a significant 93 per cent jump in average housing prices to Rs 10,350 per sq ft from 5,359 per sq ft. In Bengaluru's peripheral location Gunjur, the housing prices have increased to Rs 8,500 per square feet from Rs 5,030 per square feet. Cybercrime hotlines in Bengaluru remain unreachable amid rising cases

The IT hub of India faces a strange kind of predicament. Despite increasing cybercrimes in Bengaluru, almost all the hotlines meant for reporting them are either switched off or just keep ringing. Incidentally, according to the Bengaluru City Police website, India's first Cyber Crime Police Station was started in CID, Bengaluru way back in 2001. Then in 2017, according to the information provided in its website, to tackle the growing number of cybercrimes, another cybercrime police station came up in the premises of the Police Commissioner's office in Bengaluru. Eventually, the city got eight such police stations nine, if we include the Bengaluru Rural as well to register and investigate cases related to not only cybercrimes, but also economic and narcotic offences. India must protect the integrity of its constitutional institutions from outside interference, including those that are politically motivated, said Justice P S Narasimha, Judge, Supreme Court of India, on Sunday. Justice Narasimha was delivering the Justice E S Ventakaramiah Centennial Memorial Lecture, organised by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru. Justice Venkataramiah served as the 19th Chief Justice of India. He previously served as a judge of the Karnataka High Court, as well as the Advocate General of Mysore. According to the Supreme Court Observer, he was a part of benches that pronounced 720 judgments. Of these, he authored 256 judgments during his term at the Supreme Court. Delhi-NCR housing market remains buoyant; sales up 25%: PropEquity

India's key property market Delhi-NCR has remained buoyant during the December quarter, with housing sales and new supply estimated to rise 25 per cent and 59 per cent, respectively, according to PropEquity. Real estate data analytic firm PropEquity data shows that housing sales in Delhi-NCR are likely to rise to 12,915 units during the October-December period of this calendar year from 10,354 units in the year-ago period. New supply in Delhi-NCR is set to increase 59 per cent to 11,223 units in the current December quarter from 7,072 units in the corresponding period of the previous year. Among nine major cities across India, Delhi-NCR is the only market where sales and new supply are estimated to rise during the current quarter, real estate data analytics firm PropEquity's data showed.
