BHEL gets 2,400 MW greenfield power project from NLC India in Odisha

State-owned BHEL on Wednesday said it has bagged an order to set up a 2,400 MW supercritical thermal power project (STPP) from coal PSU NLC India Ltd. This is the largest power sector order won by the company through competitive bidding, BHEL said in a statement. "BHEL bags an order for setting up a 2,400 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Project. BHEL has won the prestigious order under International Competitive Bidding (ICB) for the greenfield project on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis at Jharsuguda in Odisha," the company said. The scope of the EPC contract includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, and commissioning of crucial equipment, such as boilers, turbines, generators, and other auxiliary systems, for the 3x800 MW thermal power project. The scope also includes boilers with biomass co-firing capability and highly efficient latest pollution control equipment. The project will be commissioned within 64 months. BHEL to set up 2,400 MW thermal power plant at Odisha's Jharsuguda

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) will set up a greenfield thermal power plant of 2,400 MW capacity in Odisha's Jharsuguda district, an official statement said on Saturday. NLC India Limited, a Navaratna company under the Ministry of Coal, has awarded the EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contract to BHEL to set the 2,400 MW capacity (3x800 MW-stage I) after inviting competitive tenders, it said. The contract scope to BHEL includes engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection and commissioning of equipment such as boilers, turbines and generators for the plant, the statement said. For the thermal project, coal linkage is available from Talabira II and III mines of NLCIL. The water required for the project will be sourced from Hirakud reservoir, it said. The first unit of the project is scheduled for commissioning in the financial year 2028-29.

BHEL making India self-reliant in energy, infra: Heavy industries minister

State-owned engineering firm BHEL is not only making India self-reliant in energy and infrastructure sectors but also contributing significantly to defence and space segments, said Union Heavy Industries Minister Mahendra Nath Pandey. The minister inaugurated the newly-constructed BHEL Sadan in Noida on the occasion of BHEL Day on Monday, the company said in a statement. Addressing on the occasion he cited the clarion call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving the target of 'net zero' carbon emissions by 2070 and said that this 18-storey, eco-friendly green building constructed as per the latest technology and standards is a symbol of BHEL's commitment towards environmental protection. BHEL felicitates Jindal Stainless for indigenous development of plates

Jindal Stainless on Monday said it has been felicitated by Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) for indigenously developing plates that were being imported from China, the European Union, and Japan. The company was felicitated at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, in the national capital. "The felicitation was received for developing C276 cladded plates, used in thermal power plants, and alloy steel plates SA387 GR 91 (9 Cr 1 Mo), for application in super critical boilers," the company said in a statement. Earlier, C276 cladded plates as well as GR 91 plates were being imported from the European Union, China, and Japan, it added.

BHEL Q2 results: Net loss at Rs 238 cr, income dips to Rs 5,305 cr

State-owned engineering firm Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 238.12 crore for September quarter 2023-24. The company had logged a profit of Rs 12.10 crore in the year-ago period, a BSE filing showed. Total income dipped to Rs 5,305.38 crore in the quarter from Rs 5,418.74 crore in the same period year ago. The company had also reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 343.89 crore in April-June period this fiscal year.

Power Mech Projects on Tuesday said it has bagged a Rs 355 crore order from state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The scope of work includes erection, commissioning and trial operation including application of lining/insulation, Power Mech Projects said in a regulatory filing. It also includes handing over of boiler and its auxiliaries, power cycle piping, steam turbine generator of unit I and II at 2X660 MW NTPC, Talcher, Odisha, it said. BHEL bags order from NHPC for 2,880 MW Dibang multipurpose project

State-owned BHEL on Monday said it has bagged an order from NHPC for its 2,880 MW Dibang multipurpose project in Arunachal Pradesh. The order for the electro-mechanical (E&M) work for the project has been bagged against a stiff competition under international competitive bidding, BHEL said in a statement. It however did not share the order value. BHEL's scope in the contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of the E&M package. Major equipment for the project will be manufactured at BHEL's plants in Bhopal, Bengaluru, Jhansi and Rudrapur while the execution activities on-site will be carried out by the company's power sector - eastern region division, Kolkata. BHEL is India's largest manufacturer of power generating equipment with an installed base of over 1,97,000 MW globally.
