Gold smuggling accused Ranya Rao was allotted land for steel plant: KIADB

The Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) on Sunday said Kannada actor Harshavardhini Ranya alias Ranya Rao, arrested for smuggling gold from Dubai, was allotted land to set up a steel plant by the previous government in February 2023. Stop blaming others for your failures: BJP takes swipe at Rahul Gandhi

The BJP on Saturday took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks about his own party leaders and said he should first understand that he is responsible for his party's defeat in elections and stop blaming others for his "failures". This came after Gandhi, while addressing party workers on the second day of his two-day Gujarat visit, said there was a need to filter out leaders and workers from his party who were working for the BJP and warned of strict action, even removals. Reacting to his remarks, BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said the condition of the Congress has worsened ever since Rahul and his mother Sonia Gandhi came at the helm of affairs of the party. "The most unsuccessful leader of the Congress in its 140-year history was holding a meeting of party workers in Gujarat to teach them the core mantra of success. Although it's an internal matter of the party, his statements definitely point to the internal misery of the Congress and his ...

Tripura CPI(M) leader slams BJP for failing to deliver on poll promises

Tripura CPI(M) leader Jitendra Chaudhury on Saturday alleged the BJP-led government in the state failed to deliver on its promises during its seven-year rule in the state. Once considered a Left bastion, the northeastern state got its first BJP government in 2018. "Prior to the 2018 Assembly elections, the BJP had promised to provide 50,000 jobs in the first year if it was voted to power. Now, its leaders are silent on it," Chaudhury, who is also the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly, said during a press conference. He said the then BJP national president Amit Shah had promised to provide 200 mandays with Rs 340 wage under MGNREGA if the BJP won the elections. "The party won the election but it has not kept the promise. Nowadays, an average of 40 mandays are being generated in the state. Job card holders are not getting payment on a regular basis even after performing their duties," he said. Chaudhury alleged, "The BJP had befooled the government employees with the ..

'Painful': Baluni raises speculation over Agarwal's removal from Cabinet

Speculation over Premchand Agarwal's possible removal from the Uttarakhand Cabinet has gained further traction after the BJP's chief spokesperson Anil Baluni described as "painful and unfortunate" the minister's recent outburst in the assembly against people from the hill areas. Baluni is also the BJP MP from Pauri Garhwal. "The entire matter has been very painful and unfortunate. I am the party's chief spokesperson and I have to maintain decorum. But I have performed my duty by raising the matter strongly in proper forums," Baluni told reporters on the sidelines of a programme in Kotdwar on Friday. Agarwal's remark during the budget session of the House late last month sparked anger among the people, especially those from the state's hill areas. The comment also led to protests and burning of his effigies. The latest protest was witnessed on Thursday in the state's summer capital Gairsain where men and women from the hill districts of both the Kumaon and the Garhwal divisions, ..
